The Divine Nine
Five fraternities (Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, Iota Phi Theta) and four sororities (Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho). Each has founding year, principles, and culture.
The right fit
Attend interest meetings at multiple orgs. Talk to current members in your community. Don't pick based on aesthetics — pick based on values alignment and the community you can see yourself in for 50 years.
Financial commitment
$1,500–$3,500 to initiate. $200–$500/year in chapter dues. Plus event costs, paraphernalia, and travel. Save before you decide.
