Born Emmitt Perry Jr. in 1969 in New Orleans. Built a stage-play empire (Madea franchise) from a low point of homelessness, then opened Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta in 2019 on the former Fort McPherson site — 330 acres, 12 sound stages, and a backlot bigger than Disney's, Paramount's, or Warner Bros.
